1. Introduction and Scope

Welcome to CleanInbox. We take your privacy and the security of your inbox seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how CleanInbox ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal and email data when you use our mobile and web applications, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

By connecting your email account and using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our Services.

2. Information We Collect

To provide our 1-click clean, inbox insights, and smart categorization features, we require access to certain information:

  • Account Information: When you sign up or connect an email provider (like Gmail, Outlook, etc.), we collect your basic profile information such as your name and email address.
  • Authentication Tokens: We collect OAuth tokens supplied by your email provider. We do not receive, store, or have access to your email account password.
  • Email Metadata and Content: We process email headers (sender, subject, timestamp) and, when necessary for smart AI detection, email body content. Much of this processing happens locally on your device to maximize privacy. For features requiring backend processing, data is processed ephemerally and is not permanently stored or used to train our AI models without explicit opt-in.
  • Device & Usage Data: We automatically collect diagnostic data, IP addresses, app usage patterns, device type, and operating system to improve app performance and stability.

3. Google API Services Limited Use Policy

CleanInbox's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere strictly to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • We only read your email data to provide user-facing features (categorizing newsletters, promotions, spam, and bulk deleting).
  • We will never transfer or sell your email data to third parties for advertising, market research, mapping, or tracking purposes.
  • Human access to your data is strictly prohibited, save for rare security diagnostic purposes or when required by law enforcement, and only with your explicit consent.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect solely for operating, maintaining, and improving the Services:

  • To categorize your inbox (grouping promos, newsletters, spam) and enable bulk deletion.
  • To process subscriptions, billing (via third-party payment processors), and provide customer support.
  • To provide personalized "Inbox Insights" generated algorithms reading your metadata.
  • To detect, prevent, and address technical issues or fraud.

5. Data Security and Retention

All data transmissions between your device, our servers, and your email provider are encrypted using industry-standard TLS. We retain your OAuth tokens and account profile only for as long as you maintain an active account with us.

Email Retention: We do NOT persistently store your emails on our servers. Processing is done in memory. Once you disconnect your email provider or delete your account, we immediately discard the associated OAuth tokens.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your personal data.
  • Revoke consent by removing our app's access directly from your Google or Microsoft security settings.

To exercise any of these rights, simply delete your account from within the CleanInbox app settings or contact our support team.

7. Third-Party Services

Our app processes payments via secure third-party processors (e.g., Apple App Store, Google Play, Stripe). We do not collect or store your credit card details. We may use third-party analytics and crash reporting services (like Firebase or Sentry), but these are isolated from your email data.
